Put on a Show With Your Band This Summer

Jazz Band

Jazz.
Pop.
Modern.
Classical.
Whatever it is,
Let's play it TOGETHER

For four days we focus on:

Learn what it means to play in a band.

Because the best learning happens on the bandstand.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do I need to bring in a band of musicians with me or can I just sign up?

You can just sign up! The more the merrier though, so if you have friends who want to play too, sign up with them!

2. Do I need to bring in music?

You can but you don't have to! I love it when students have ideas for songs they'd like to play, but I also have lots of songs ready to go if you don't know where to start.

3. What is the schedule like and where is it at?

Bandstand is a four-day summer camp. We meet for a 2 hour rehearsal each afternoon and put on a performance in the evening on the last day. All rehearsals and performances are at Dickerson's Tri-City Pianos in Richland.

4. Do I already need to know how to improvise?

Nope! We work on improvisation exercises together to help everyone start getting comfortable improvising. If you already have experience improvising, there will be lots of opportunity for you to practice solos. If you are less comfortable soloing, you won't have to. There's room for everybody!

5. How are students grouped?

Students are grouped according to age and experience level. There are options for middle school groups and high school grouops.
